Andy Stack is best known as drummer and multi-instrumentalist of Wye Oak, but on August 23rd he'll be putting out Release The Dogs, his debut solo record as Joyero. He recorded the album in Marfa, Texas, which also provided inspiration for the project musically and visually, with the video for new song 'Steepest Stairs' having been filmed in West Texas.

Stack has said that 'Steepest Stairs' is "a song about feeling like an outsider and finding some peace in that.” Like previously released track 'Dogs', 'Steepest Stairs' has a core of deliciously bubbling synths that glimmer as they burble outwards. Stack's voice and lyrics are reminiscent of Death Cab's Ben Gibbard in the off-hand delivery of weighty images and thoughts, bolstered by the beautiful musicality of the track. It all comes together to make 'Steepest Stairs' a thought-provoking and immersive listen that will chime with any mood.

Joyero's debut album Release The Dogs is out August 23rd on Merge. He's got a month-long tour through Europe planned at these dates:
