This is the latest from Bristol-based producer and all-round house music maestro of the moment, Julio Bashmore. Called 'Simple Love' it features the vocals of the mononymous J'Danna, who provides the track's titular hook (is it the same J'Danna who covered Gil Scott-Heron's 'Winter In America' a couple of years back?) in all its feel-good glory.

As the song bounces along with its bass rumbling, its hi-hats reverbing, its sandy snares, its medley of synth pads and melted chords, the singular hi-string that gives it a disco air, it all comes together in a deep, darkish groove that stands almost as an opposite to his bright and clap-laden hit, 'Peppermint'. Taken from upcoming album out via Bashmore's own label, Broadwalk Records – its 10th release, double figures, yay~!

'Simple Love' will be released digitally on 29th September, and on 12" vinyl on 13th October. He plays the following shows over the coming months:

  • 19th September London Airspace
  • 26th September Bristol Coroners Court (Mixmag Live)
  • 25th October London Airspace
  • 21st November London Airspace
