A couple of years ago, Ryan Gosling was announced to direct and star in MGM's remake of em>The Idolmaker, but eventually dropped off the project due to schedule conflicts. Now the film is back in the spotlight, with Justin Timberlake entering negotiations to produce it - and it's even rumoured that he could star, depending on the script and who's directing it.

The remake of the 1980 film, based on the life of rock promoter/producer Bob Marucci who discovered teen idols like Fabian or Frankie Avalon, will be Timberlake's second adventure as a producer, since the singer is already prepping his debut in the business with Neil Bogart's biopic Spinning Gold, in which he's also expected to star as the infamous record executive.

Justin Timberlake is also releasing a new album this fall: The 20/20 Experience Part 2 is out September on RCA Records.
