Apart from the killer line "Don't tell a lie on me / I won't tell the truth 'bout you", the first minute of the new Kendrick Lamar song is pretty forgettable. Then he goes off. If there's a rapper out there better at the whole I'm Better Than You / Your Friends / The Whole Industry shtick, and can actually back it up, send them my way.

My favourite line from the song:

"Tables turn, lesson learned, my best look / You jumped sides on me, now you 'bout to meet Westbrook / Go celebrate with your team and let victory vouch you / Just know the next game played, I might slap the shit out you / Technical foul, I'm flagrant, I'm fouled / They throwin' me out, you throwin' the towel."

Firstly, I'm a huge basketball nerd, so references to Westbrook elevates the song by two points. Maybe even three. Second, it's about Drake. No debating, he's talking about Drake (Drake references Westbrook on his More Life song, 'Cant Have Everything': "Oh, triple-double Russ face.") And look, I really like Drake, but Kendrick is on another level. Drake knows this, and Kendrick sure as hell knows this: "I am the greatest rapper alive / So damn great motherfucker I've died / What you hearin' now is a paranormal vibe." Ouch.

I can't imagine 'The Heart Part IV' is from a new album - it's part of a series which dates back to 2010 - but with the line, "Y'all got til April the 7th to get y'all shit together," it's fair to say that something is on its way.
