Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. cut 'Humble' has earned him his first number one record. But the beat almost went to someone else, according to producer Mike Will Made-It, who broke down the beat's origin story to NPR. He said his production on the record was inspired by Gucci Mane and his release from prison.

"With 'HUMBLE.,' I knew that beat was going to capture a moment. It just felt real urgent. I made that beat when Gucci Mane was getting out of jail; I made it with him in mind," he said. "I was just thinking, damn, Gucci’s about to come home; it’s got to be something urgent that’s just going to take over the radio."
