Good news with a bittersweet aftertaste for a dreary humpday afternoon; Universal Pictures is in talks to make Kick-Ass 2 (reports Deadline.com), with Jeff Wadlow directing his script. It seems a shame that directorial control has been stripped from Vaughn, who did such a bang-up job balancing farcical elements with intense action and a rather touching set of sub-plots. It seems an amicable deal though, as Vaughn has commitments to his X-Men: First Class sequel and is reported to be supportive of Wadlow (who wrote the original script) taking over the reigns

Original castmembers rumoured to be still involved go by the names of Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, but it remains to be confirmed. The film is expected to start production in the Summer, so chances are it'll see a release Summer/Autumn of 2013. It'll have plenty more high-octane and high-end competition by then...but my enthusiasm is not in the least dampened. By then Nic Cage will probably need another shot in his career's arm anyway.
