Following on from the announcement on twitter of Joey Bada$$'s new album (B4.DA.$$ - out in the Autumn), on top of the 'Hotbox' joint we previewed last week and the statement declaring the imminent release of the Capital STEEZ memorial mixtape (King Capital), 'New, New York' Beast Coast players Pro Era continue with their showcase of '4/20 Weekend' related new music with a smooth, self-produced Kirk Knight track entitled 'Early Morning Hiatus'.

The track, a simple, slightly subdued slice of 90s influenced boom bap - replete with accessible hooks, silky, lazy flows detailing the nuances of everyday life and a deft chopped, sampled bass line - delivers airy, summery, feel good vibes (despite some of the self-deprecating and reflective lyrical content), that although not as exciting as some of the other stuff either he or Pro Era as a whole have done, definitely still hits the spot, especially early in the morning… perhaps, maybe, during a hiatus to the kitchen.

According to his soundcloud, Kirk's new mixtape, Kkkirk Knasty, is on the way, something I for one will be hungrily looking out for due to Knight's proficiency and consistency on both the buttons and on the mic.
