'First Cry' is the first single from Knightstown's upcoming self-titled debut album. Knightstown is the vocal/producer project of Michael Aston, who has been cutting his teeth as a freelance composer/songwriter and performer. In the past, Aston has played Keyboard for C Duncan and even composed an Orchestral Overture for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Signed to FatCat in 2016 after Aston's demo 'Disparity' became one of the most listened to tracks on their demo site, he began working with his cousin and producer Thomas Aston. Honing in on a sound that is influenced by modern electronic and leftfield downtempo, whilst existing in the more refined areas of pop.

'First Cry' is a beautiful track made up of minimal and soulful melodies and haunting falsetto vocals that put it amongst contemporary acts such as Sampha and James Blake. However, the classically trained Aston hasn't forgotten his roots, praising the Baroque composer Bach - "His music I have come to love perhaps most of all, even more than my favourite pop/electronic head-bangers".
