Label Mates III kicked off at The Shacklewell Arms on March 6th, so we're getting to know the bands and labels involved. Our final stop is Dan Reeves who heads up Brighton label, Faux Discx Records.

The Rundown

Home to?
The label generally has a revolving door with friends coming and going. Faux Discx has released records by Cold Pumas, Hookworms, Sauna Youth, Vision Fortune, Sex Hands, Soft Walls, Teardrop Factory, Primitive Parts, Tense Men, Omi Palone, Women and many more...

When did it start?
Way back when, in another city, in a different time.

What was your first release?
A handmade CDR by my friend's band Skiptracer. I still have a bunch of the CDs under my bed, do you want one?

How did it start?
It was something fun to do, and most of the time it still is.

The best thing about running a label?
Helping your friends reach a greater audience is very rewarding, seeing them play to a room full of people fills my heart with pride.

What artists are you guys spinning the most at the moment?
Total Control, Viet Cong, The Byrds, Broadcast.

What do you look for in a new artist?
No bullshit, good songs, great people, face-melting live.

Stuff to keep an eye out for in 2015?
I'll let you in on a secret: I have a tape for TV Wonder lined up, a 12" pressing of the MONOTONY EP, a Sealings LP co-released with Italian Beach Babes and a 7" for Lower Slaughter all on the horizon!

Faux Discx Records take over The Shacklewell Arms on Saturday 14th March. Tickets are available here.
