Well someone wants to see a Daniel Johnston film get made. When those someones are Lana Del Rey and Mac Miller, they can push forward some pretty heavy investments - literally. The pair have donated $10,000 each to the Kickstarter for the film, which will tell Johnston's story as a lo-fi musician and visual artist. Hi, How Are You will be directed by Gabriel Sunday, who describes the film below:

We began shooting with a simple outline: an intimate interview between Daniel and his younger self addressing his most prolific and maddening era. Our hope was to bring his stories, memories and art to life. What ensued during shooting was beyond anything our crew could have hoped for. Daniel not only opened up and told stories none of us had ever heard, but embraced and relished the idea of speaking with his younger self, gifting advice and warnings from the future. That became the backbone of our script.

Del Rey and her boyfriend will receive a "signed Smurf ukelele" and art for their contributions, and Miller will get an autographed Johnston chord organ as well as some original artwork. They'll get their names listed under 'executive producer' for the film as well, which I'd assume is what normally happens when you donate $10,000 to a movie. The campaign ends on 5 December and has already passed its $35,000 goal. You can find out more about the Kickstarter and its prizes here.
