Excited to see Lauryn Hill live in London tomorrow (15th July) at Shepherd's Bush Empire? Well, too bad, but she won't be there. Due to her "past legal situation" she'll be unable to enter the UK; that situation, if you were wondering (or if you've forgotten), occurred back in 2013 when Hill served time for tax evasion. Is that really a serious enough offence to warrant not actually being allowed in another country?

Apparently not all the time — she played a few shows in the UK last year, so what's changed?

Here's her statement:

Hello All,

I've been informed that I won't be able to enter the UK for a period of time due to my past legal situation. For this reason I have to cancel my concert on July 15th. Know that I was looking forward to performing in London this summer, and that I appreciate all of my fans and supporters both in London, and throughout the UK. I look forward to seeing you again as soon as I'm able to.

Love and Respect,
MLH

She will, however, be allowed to play in France tomorrow. Specifically, St-Tropez, so it's not all bad.

And here you go: it's not a Lauryn Hill solo song, but her verse on 'How Many Mics' is chills-inducingly cool – never forget!
