Lil Boosie, who has spent the past five years in Louisiana State Penitentiary, was released last night to spend the rest of his jail sentence, which is until 2018, on parole. The Baton Rouge rapper, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, was jailed in 2009 on a marijuana possession charge, a charge which was later extended after he was caught attempting to smuggle drugs into the prison. He faced an additional charge of murder in 2012, but was found not guilty in the end.

Lil Boosie has said that his time in prison has been great for him, creatively. Speaking early last year he said he had around 500 songs on the go and so, now he’s been released, he’ll surely be ready to hit the ground running and make up for lost time.
