It's hard being a teenager. With horns that could have come straight off a Tarantino soundtrack, the first track on Caves' new EP, When You Were Partying, I Was Dying will make you want to dance and cry along with the singer's frustrated youth ("Please figure me out/ I've waited too long /and I wonder if you're telling the truth"). It gets even better on '1993' - "I'd die for you like you'd die for me."

The man behind the music is Luka Cage, a youthful prodigy (his soundcloud says he's 18) who describes his sound as future funk. There are some shoegaze and soul sounds in there too, but hey, a rose by any other name.

When You Were Partying, I Was Dying is available for free via mediafire from Absent Fever on Bandcamp.
