One of the pioneering bands in shoegaze, Slowdive, has made their return to the studio, and you can now hear their first new recorded song in 22 years, 'Star Roving', below.

The British band has been on a reunion tour for the last few years, after albums like their seminal 90s releases Souvlaki and Pygmalion only saw an increase in popularity and discussion in the decades after their split.

The tour has brought the band closer together, and they promised new music last year, which they are now making good on. Singer Neil Halstead says: “When the band decided to get back together in 2014 we really wanted to make new music. It's taken us a whole load of shows and a few false starts to get to that point, but it's with pride and a certain trepidation we unleash “Star Roving”. We really hope folks enjoy it, it's part of a bunch of new tracks we've been working on and it feels as fun, and as relevant playing together now as it did when we first started”.

'Star Roving' is the first taste of an upcoming album from Slowdive, which will be released via Dead Oceans later in the year. Check out 'Star Roving' below.
