Last week, a Mars Volta fan on message board The Comatorium was sent a folder of 15 unreleased tracks with instructions to 'share' the find.

Since then, the band's former drummer, Thomas Pridgen, has revealed it is real and detailed the tracks he contributed to via Facebook, while some of the tracks are guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's solo works.

The Mars Volta split up in January and have since moved on to other projects. Rodriguez-Lopez launched Bosnian Rainbows while vocalist Cedric Bixler Zavala also formed a new band.
