On 22 July, Common will be making his return with his 10th album Nobody's Smiling, out through his new partnership with Def Jam. We've already heard 'Kingdom' featuring Vince Staples, but today he's shared 'Speak My Piece' from the record as well.

The album marks his return with his longtime producer No I.D. and the album itself is a concept piece about the influx of violence in Chicago. 'Speak My Piece' is a particularly poignant piece as it shows that Common still has faith in his hometown, despite the violence that occurs. Backed by hard-hitting percussion and a Notorious B.I.G. sample, he declares “I lay it for the for world, for Chicago I stand”.
