We're all a little bummed regarding the recent news that The National won't be releasing a new album in 2016, but the world can never be so empty and hollow. With the upcoming Oscar-favorite film The Revenant, the newest film from famed director Alejandro González Iñárritu, band member Bryce Dessner has contributed some of his own original music, including the newly released 'Imagining Buffalo'.

Dessner worked on the film's score with Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, which is performed with the help of Berlin collective s t a r g a z e and conductor André de Ridder. 'Imagining Buffalo casts a vast scope of atmosphere and imaginative movements, only further strengthening the impossible energy the picture possesses. The soundtrack for the film will be available digitally Christmas Day, on CD January 8th, and on vinyl in April courtesy of Milan Records.

Listen to 'Imagining Buffalo' below. The Revenant debuts worldwide January 8th.
