Scottish producer Jon Cooper, the man behind the moniker Turtle, has shared a new track with us called 'The Floor'. Taken from his forthcoming EP, Colours, it's a rising tide of sound, delicate and moody guitar melodies delaying into the void, muted strings clacking, electronic glistenings chiming, vocals soaring from out this sonic cloud – all of it set to a shuffling house beat, all of it reaching a rich crescendo as more elements weave their way into the mix: a glittering, all-encompassing electro-symphonic introduction, a glorious prelude to the music of Turtle, who seamlessly mixes alternative, guitar-based songwriting with layered production and fulsome beats.

We riddled him these questions three:

What's the inspiration/idea behind the track?
Artificial Intelligence. Transhumanism. Simplicity verses Complexity. The poem of the same name by Russell Edson.

Is there any particular time or place in the universe where it'd sound best?
Exactly wherever you are at whatever time.

What would you like people to see or feel when they listen?
Whatever their heart and mind conjures up and projects. Completely open to the listener.

Turtle's Colours EP is out 11th May.
