It's been a little while since east London-based musician Barney Artist released his highly praised Bespoke EP, which earned him praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens and producer/musician Mr Hudson. Commercially, it debuted in the top 10 of the Hip-Hop charts on iTunes and included production from the likes of Alfa Mist and Tom Misch.

While another project isn't quite ready for release, he's keeping his supporters at bay with the release of 'Last Day' produced by Jordan Rakei. "The Bespoke EP is a year old (mad) and my supporters have been so sick," he told us via email. "I wanted to give them a present to say thank you, so I hollered at my mate Jordan and I asked him if he'd be up for making something and he said "Yeah, cool!" and this is the result."

'Last Day' - premiered here today - continues the footprints left by the Bespoke EP; its production is laid-back, calm and unruffled while Barney delivers his bars with ease and excellence. It's a unique combination of R&B & Hip-Hop with a touch of Jazz. We asked him where it would sound best; "Probably just when you're about to enter the Blackwall Tunnel in your blacked out Range Rover... If not, when you're making yourself a cup of tea. Either will suffice."

With a follow-up project on the horizon, which he promises is coming very soon, Barney hopes people will enjoy this freebie while he keeps his head down working on more material, including further work with Rakei. "I hope people just vibe with it. That's all!"

The Bespoke EP is available on iTunes.
