Back in January we declared that London quartet Escapists were proof that "there was still a place for intelligent guitar driven indie-pop music." Fortunately with the band's second release they've proved us right once again. Bold and epic, 'Blood' is an accomplished piece of work that reveals the strength of a huge, euphoric chorus and lush instrumentation.

Unlike the slew of style-over-substance indie bands at the moment, Escapists come emerge with intelligent and songwriting; In his own words, leadsinger Simon Glancy describes 'Blood' as "the energy of staying-up all night and how bright-eyed optimism of the day to come can quickly evaporate into paranoia and disorientation". Expect to see much more of Escapists in 2014.
