Four Tet and late American jazz drummer Steve Reid covered a track called 'Strings Of Life' back at Green Man Festival 2006. The original is by Derrick May, a maker of electronic music credited with developing the genre of techno; for years the Hebden x Reid cover of the track has remained unreleased.

That is until last night when Four Tet himself tweeted:

The track, which you can stream below, will soon see its release on Hebden's Text label as a limited 12", as the tweet says, with hand-printed sleeves designed and printed by Marta Dos Santos (as above). All proceeds from the release will go to the The Steve Reid Foundation, an organisation formed in memory of Reid, who died in 2010, which "aims to help people working in music who are in crisis, especially those suffering from illness."

See below for a video taken by Four Tet on his Instagram of Steve Reid on drums.

Four Tet's new album, Morning/Evening, is available to stream now, ahead of its release on 10th July.
