Before the late Jeff Buckley laid down his debut solo album Grace, he recorded himself singing and playing a selection of songs to get an idea for the kind of sound he wanted. Those songs, most of them covers, have surfaced as a posthumous album, You And I, set for release next year.

As you can see from the tracklist at the end of this post, the covers range from The Smiths (with two songs covered by Buckley here, 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side' and 'I Know It's Over') to Bob Dylan ('Just Like A Woman'). Listen below to his stark, lo-fi but undeniably arresting cover of Sly and The Family Stone's classic 'Everyday People'.
