With the rise of sensual, soulful R&B artists like The Weeknd (and even Hozier and Sam Smith, albeit a little less sensual, to an extent), I think New York City based musician John Splithoff will do just fine - especially if he keeps releasing tunes as delectably sexy as 'What If She Wants You'. He co-produced the track alongside Noise Club in Brooklyn and while at first it seems like it's about something primal, Splithoff said in a statement that the tension experienced may not be purely sexual:

"The song is about the thrill of building up an unbelievable amount of tension with someone; waiting it out, through all the give and take, anticipating the incredible high you both get when you finally bring down the walls. I’ve rewritten the song time and time again, but the theme has always remained."

With the release of 'What If She Wants You', he's also announced a new gig in New York City at the Mercury Lounge opening for Liam Hayes of Plush on 25 January. Check out his pair of gigs after the track.

  • Tour Dates:
  • Nov 25 Chicago, IL - Schubas
  • Jan 25 New York, NY - Mercury Lounge (supporting Liam Hayes of Plush)
