Australia’s Ocean Party is an outfit of six members, but listening to member Lachlan Denton’s new album, Two Months In Ben Woolley’s Room, it’d be easy to envision him as a lone wolf. After the breakup of an 8-year-long relationship, Denton recorded this album in Abbotsford, Victoria, mainly armed with a guitar and some truly lovesick lyrics. Denton crafts a moving portrait of self-reflection. His devotion to the past is apparent, especially when he delivers a cover of Aussie indie legends The Go-Betweens’ ‘Boundary Rider’, but his sincerity is never in doubt. Enjoy this album when the weather’s nice enough to go for a walk, but when you’re ruminating and need something relatable to listen to as you go.
