Let's face it, intelligent UK hip-hop at the moment is a rather dry place. Of course there are exceptions, such as Jay Prince and Loyle Carner but there would seem to be a void of thoughtful, challenging rap artists not intent with just talking about how great they are. Luckily, judging from Birmingham-based artist Thai Mason's debut track 'Drunk', the tide may be turning.

Produced by rising Roche Musique-affiliated French producer FKJ, 'Drunk' is an ambitious and accomplished affair. Combining soulful production, witty tongue-in-cheek lyrics and an undeniable melodic sensibility, the track feels like an exciting start to the world of Thai Mason.
