Taken from her new album Apocalypse, girl, which is out 8th June on Sacred Bones, here is 'That Battle Is Over' by Jenny Hval. The song is set to a blissfully shuffling beat and mildly lamenting introspective organ chords, and reaches a disarming vocal crescendo where Jenny sings, "That battle is over, and feminism's over, and socialism's over…", so she can "consume what I want now" with more than just a hint of sarcasm in there.

It's anthemic without being anthemic, disheartening without being disheartening, and to be able to spin feelings and sounds in such a way that they morph and elude you whenever you try to pin them down is a refreshing thing indeed. It puts us all in good stead for the album.

She's playing a few live dates in June around the UK – check 'em out below.
