The Lake Poets were a 19th century group of Romantic poets who lived in the Lake District that consisted of poets such as William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Robert Southey. The Lake Poets also happens to be the alias for Sunderland singer-songwriter Martin Longstaff making beautiful emotive acoustic folk-pop.

In a world saturated with dreary and tedious folk-pop artists, Longstaff surely comes as an antidote; sincere, intelligent and assured, its no wonder The Lake Poets have picked up loyal support from Radio 1 and 6 Music. 'Honest Hearts', the first from his debut EP of the same name, comes a year since the band's previous release however this break has certainly been worthwhile - the track is the most accomplished and intelligent release to date. Honest Hearts is spellbinding and heart-breaking, taking influence from classic songwriters such as Neil Young and folk bands such as Stornoway.
