Just over three years since the release of High Violet, The National are today offering a preview of their new record Trouble Will Find Me. Writing things such as 'hotly anticipated' are just not necessary with this band of five guys from Ohio. Over time, and with a succession of beautiful rough diamond records and live shows frequently reducing people to emotional wrecks, the National rightly transcend gushing hype.

This, their sixth studio album was first previewed/teased with the live debut of three new songs at ATP back in December of last year. Since then, two singles - 'Demons' and 'Don't Swallow the Cap' - plus live takes of 'Sea Of Love' and 'I Need My Girl' have added a weight of expectancy.

The National have brought some friends this time, including Richard Reed Parry from Arcade Fire, St Vincent, the luminous Sharon Van Etten and Sufjan Stevens. But that's like going to your favourite bar where you just happen to bump into people you kind of know. It was the bar you wanted, and it was the bar you got. Trouble Will Find Me is released next Monday 20th May through 4AD.
