The internet fell in love with Vérité's debut single 'Strange Enough' almost immediately, and it looks like the same will happen with her newest tune 'Weekend'. It's a confident and powerful track from the New York City based musician. With the rise of off-kilter pop songstresses such as Tove Lo, Charli XCX, and Icona Pop, who stray pretty far from your typical "Top 40 Princess", Vérité could almost definitely join those ranks if she continues to drop tunes as massive as the two we've heard so far.

"Conceptually it came from a snapshot of a scenario," she explained, "an old friend of mine lived on this quiet, dead end residential street with bright florescent lights. I had the image of us falling down in the stillness of the scene. From the first line, the song winds up being an ode to the nostalgia of how, despite how sick we were or how insane things get, we can take moments from the craziest times and glorify them as being absolutely perfect." She added "Weekend winds up sitting in a weird place for me, caught between the exhilaration of 'you could bring me to life' and the reality that we were only fooling ourselves into thinking we were alive while we distract ourselves from reality."
