After sharing new track 'Usha' back in June, Daphni – the alter-ego, or additional moniker, of the brain behind Caribou, Dan Snaith – is back with another one: 'Vikram'.

Just as 'Usha' is really an edited mash of 'Main Gul Badan' by Indian singer Usha Uthup and 'Colugo' by Alex Israel, so too is 'Vikram' an edit, this time of pioneering Tamil composer Ilaiyaraaja's song 'Vikram Vikram', which you can listen to at the end of this post. Snaith maintains the drum machine aesthetics of the original whilst adding lashings of sumptuous percussion and slices of disjointedly reverbing vocals. You can listen to and download it for free below.

Interestingly, the track is tagged as Jiaolong – the title of Snaith's sixth studio album but the first under the Daphni moniker – perhaps signalling that a new Daphni album is on the horizon.
