We recently brought you the news that Emily Cross and Dan Duszynski of Cross Record had teamed up with Jonathan Meiburg (Shearwater) as Loma, with a self-titled debut album set for release in February. The first couple of singles, 'Black Willow' and 'Relay Runner', gave us an insight into their sound, and now we head deeper into their atmosphere with 'Joy'.

Although sporting a title that suggests brightness and liveliness, 'Joy' is a much more cerebral experience than that, more like taking a slow paddle boat down an endless river at sunset, and just watching the sunlight reflect and refract all around you. 'Joy' slowly glides on subtle bearings, set off by inflections of woodwinds and plucked strings. It's redolent of Meiburg's work with Shearwater around Rook, but with Emily Cross on lead vocals we have a spiritual guide, with a lightness that exudes calm even as we might be heading into deeper and darker mental morasses.

Check out 'Joy' below, and look for Loma's newly announced UK tour dates beneath.
