Legendary London venue Hammersmith Apollo is no more - at least with the name and look we were used to. After a multi-million pound purchase and investment from owners AEG Live and CTS Eventim, the music venue has been renamed as Eventim Apollo and its iconic 1932 Art Deco design is going through a major refurbishment.

"With this name sponsorship, we are making a commitment to the quality of the experience that music and comedy fans will enjoy at the Eventim Apollo, and also to the quality of the ticketing services Eventim is offering to the British fans," says CTS Eventim CEO Klaus-Peter Schulenberg.

The visual transformation of the venue is being overseen by award-winning architects Foster Wilson, and its reopening as Eventim happened last Saturday for Selena Gomez's sold-out concert. Phase two of renovation is now underway, and will continue for the next six-to-nine months. [via FACT]
