Political music in the year of our Lord 2018 can take only two valid forms; they can utilise subtlety, their import and polemic unravelling itself from subtext with no platitudinal interruption; or they discard equivocation and burst their lungs by shrieking FUCK and punching their laptops into circuitboards. Lonnie Holley, the long-time folk artist who only in 2012 flaunted his incendiary musical talent, is fairly emphatically siding with the latter, if MITH's lead single "I Woke Up in a Fucked-Up America" is anything to go by.

Pitiless percussion and skronking brass complement Holley's arsenic bark of a voice, his stream of consciousness outrage a perfect avatar for the mindless madness pilfering his country. MITH is out September 21st on Jagjaguwar and you can watch the single's video below. One of my most hyped records this Autumn folks.
