Lorde, aka 'The Lana Del Rey of 2013', has signed a publishing deal with Songs Music Publishing worth a staggering $2.5m.

Billboard have suggested that every major label you can imagine - iincluding Sony and Universal - have tried to sign the 17-year-old New Zealand singer, but Songs Music won out with a hefty package, including some nice words from president Ron Perry: "She's going to have a lot of big songs out there as Ella... she's a once-in-a-generation type artist." It's expected that she might end up collaborating with Diplo and The Weeknd.

Pretty impressive. [via The Guardian]
