The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2015 has been announced.

Leading the pack are Lou Reed, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, and Green Day.

Also inducted this year are Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bill Withers, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Ringo Starr will receive the Award of Excellence, while R&B group The 5 Royales will be presented with the Early Influence Award. The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails, Sting, Kraftwerk, N.W.A., and Chic were nominated but weren't inducted this year.

In order to be eligible for induction, one needs to have their first single/album released at least 25 years prior to the year of induction (1989 for the class of 2015).
