The teaming of world-renowned producer Madlib and Future Islands frontman Sam Herring may not have been a particularly expected coupling, but the seemingly aesthetically distant halves have partnered up for the brand new project Trouble Knows Me.

The duo will release a very limited-edition six-track 12", which features the recently released title track - available below. The jazzy intro to the duo's work doesn't mince Herring's surprisingly effective rapping chops, which might be shocking one hasn't heard it in the past, like his work with fellow Los Angeles underground rap figure Scallops Hotel on 'Lavender Chunk'. The graveled howl Herring is most known for as the frontman to Future Islands is also on display during 'Trouble Knows Me', the but song does its best when prominently focusing on Herring as his lesser-known rapping moniker Hemlock Ernst.
