Carinae, a psychedelic rock band from Hadley, Massachusetts, boasts seven members, including a flutist who joined after the recording of their upcoming self-titled debut. On 'Honey Money,' the band puts their sizable roster and rich instrument palette to excellent use.

Though it runs fairly lean at a little over three minutes, 'Honey Money,' with its energy and many turns, provides the freaky nourishment of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's most epic numbers. After a catchy but familiar start of layered vocals, rubbery bass, and jaunty keyboard melodies, 'Honey Money' starts to get deliciously weird, with a spoken word passage about "Systems addicted to liquid, pornographic invention" and much more. Honey is known for having an eternal shelf life. As long as eccentricity has a place in music, so will 'Honey Money.'

Carinae is out on November 1. Preorder here and follow Carinae on Facebook.
