Baltimore electro duo Matmos announced the release of their upcoming album The Marriage of True Minds, via Thrill Jockey Records.

The full-length album, the duo’s first in nearly five years, follows The Ganzfeld EP. The upcoming album follows the band’s curious parapsychological experiments (otherwise known as ESP) with willing subjects in Baltimore and Oxford University.

The original Ganzfeld experiment put test subjects in a room, with ping pong balls over their eyes and a red light shining on them, as white noise is played through head phones. For their own spin, Matmos member Drew Daniel asked the subjects to vocalize what they saw. Those images and concepts became the construct of The Marriage of True Minds.

The album is scheduled for release February 18th, and features contributions from the likes of Dan Deacon and members of Wye Oak, Dirty Projectors, and others.
