Another day means another killer single from Matt Surfin' & Friends, the collaborative project fronted by New Orleans musician Matt Seferian. Singles like 'Get Down' and 'Truth' have showcased the group's eclectic sound, with the rare talent to jump between sounds and styles with considerable ease. The band's latest single, 'Waiting On You,' is easily the most fun track to date, as Seferian and Co. channel the sound of '70s and '80s pop-rock outfits like The Cars to thrilling effect.

Written and recorded in about 8 hours, 'Waiting On You' is pure pop nostalgia. Synths twinkle in the background, the sharp clean guitars evoke the best of Elliot Easton and Seferian's vocal delivery is full of warmth and charm. The song doesn't reinvent the wheel, nor does it try to do so. But it is a ton of fun and charming as all hell.

Seferian says that he crafted the song with Ross Farbe and Ray Micarelli from the band Video Age. "I felt like I couldn’t do some of the ideas I had justice, so I asked Ross if he would be interested in singing the song and maybe helping me rework some parts," he says. "We met up months later, rewrote the verses and changed the feel to something more like a dance version of the Cleaners From Venus. ... It was a blast working with such talented musicians and song writers as Ross and Ray as they solidified and expanded my ideas."

So roll down the windows and blast 'Waiting On You' as you enjoy the summer weather creeping in. Fans of the song can pre-order Matt Surfin' and Friends self-titled debut, due out on May 3 via Community Records and Muscle Beach, right here.
