Following the single and video for 'Enemy', Tampa Bay post-punk outfit Merchandise seemed like an apt niche fit between oft comparisons like The Smiths. The chances for transcendence, however, may have come off spirited, yet limited.

However, with the newly released 'Green Lady', those devouring comparisons are proving to be more and more accurate. On the band's newest single, from the forthcoming After The End LP on 4AD, the band have presented perhaps the best modern incarnation of the beloved '80s aesthetic in years. 'Green Lady' manages to drift between Meat Is Murder-era pop ache and the delicate waviness of Trash Can Sinatras. So joyous, in fact, that the track earned Merchandise "Best New Track" honors over at Pitchfork.

Check out the furiously good single below and pre-order After The End at iTunes, coming out August 25th. Pre-orders come with exclusive immediate downloads of the aforementioned 'Enemy' and 'Little Killer'.

Merchandise will begin touring in early September alongside White Lung, Lower, and several other bands. Tour dates are listed here.
