Xiu Xiu frontman Jamie Stuart has teamed up with Merzbow, a Japanese noise artist, for a combinatory collaboration in the form of Merzxiu. It's in association with Record Store Day, it's not a random thing.

So on 18th April they'll be releasing their self-titled offering, MERZXIU on "splattered vinyl" for a limited run of 1000 copies, with 50 available through Bandcamp in case you can't make it to a record shop (or store, if you will) on the day.

Consisting of two sides of around 20 minutes worth of music (simply 'Merzxiu A' and 'Merzxiu B'), the music is as distortedly crunchy and damaged and darkly noisy as you can imagine, made by both artists remotely via a helpful translator.
