Mos Def, aka Yasiin Bay, aka Dante Terrell Smith, has cancelled his U.S Tour due to "immigration issues" preventing him from re-entering the country.

Ahead of his appearance at Together Boston, festival representatives released a statement explaining why the musician would not be performing. An article posted to the event's official site reads:

"We regret to inform you that due to immigration / legal issues Yasiin Bey is unable to enter back into the United States and his upcoming U.S. tour has been canceled, including May 15th, Together Boston’s show at The Wilbur Theatre. Individual ticket refunds for this show are available at point of sale."

Mos Def moved to South Africa in 2009, shortly after the release of his last album The Ecstatic.

Update: "[Bey] has never attempted to enter any country and been refused. It's a complete lie," says friend of Mos Def Abdi Hussein. "In fact, if there was anything criminal against you, they would invite you back so they could lock you up." Read more over at Times Live.
