Anthemic British rock band Muse have been selected to score the official song of the 2012 London Olympic Games, Consequence of Sound reports.

You'll be able to hear the song by listening to Radio 1 later today, and the track will be immediately available for purchase through iTunes and the band's website afterwards.

Titled 'Survival', the band's website states that it's a track about “conviction and pure determination to win,” and was written strictly with the Olympics in mind.

Those watching the Olympics this summer will have plenty of time to get familiar with it, as you'll be able to hear it being played as athletes enter the stadium; in the lead up to the medal ceremony as well as acting as the theme song for all international TV coverage of the event.

Blur and Sir Paul McCartney are the acts who will be the acts performing at the event's opening and closing ceremonies.
