Many people pronounced MySpace dead following the arrival of Facebook, Twitter, and what we now call Social Networking 2.0, but the website was able to reinvent itself and relaunch in January with a new look and feel.

Now the company has revealed that they have reached the 36 million users with their completely redesigned website, and although its growth has slowed down during the summer, they claim that the success is due to them focusing in more original content instead of trying to compete with the same features provided by other social networks.

MySpace hit 31 million users right after its beta period, so it's safe to say they still have a long way to go before gaining the notoriety they once had, but with its new features attracting both new and former users their main concern should be how they are going to keep them. [via The Next Web]
