Nina Kinert INTERVIEW!!!...
Pets & Friends has been out for a while now, how has the experience of creating and living this album differed to that of the previous albums that have graced our ears? Wow, thankyou! Pets & Friends has been out for a while now, how has the experience of creating and living this album differed to that of the previous albums that have graced our ears? Wow, thankyou! It´s been very different actually! I made my first two albums with Love Olzon. We wrote songs together and you can hear so much of him on those albums. I consider them being one chapter and Pets&Friends is the start of another chapter. P&F feels like my very own debut in a way⦠I´ve made it all myself you know! Your music appears to be enthused with lyrics and feelings of love in all its glory, hurt, and its diversity. Do you find your inspiration within its embrace, and, what philosophy do you hold for love? Well, I´m a very romantic and nostalgic person. Always looking for that kind of âlarger than life-feelingâ. The moments when you feel that life is just like the best movie you ever saw⦠Mysterious and romantic and âmeant to beâ and surrounded by the kind of love that just makes it hard to breathe! But love can be so many different things, it can be really ugly too⦠I guess my philosophy on love would be: Don´t ever think you know what it´s about! Just let it f*ck you up, over and over again⦠What other influences have inspired you to write, within your life and externally, such as other artists? I think it all started with disneymovies and musicals! I was crazy about The Little Mermaid and Phantom Of The Opera. The thing they have in common, besides that they include magic and parallel realitys is that both heroines have voices that make people stop and listen⦠I´ve always been inspired by stories and fairytales! And heros! Everyday-life-ones and the fiction ones! Your lyrics are very poetic, in their narrative and your vocal deliverance. Do you also write poetry, and if so could you write a short haiku or senryu for us here at the fourohfive? Is that too cheeky a question to ask? And if so, I offer you one of my own in the hope of reciprocation :)⦠Nina Kinert, A Voice whoâs breath escapes the Confines of the stars⦠Do you like? I could never beat that! You blew me away⦠Have you always wished to be a musician or was there one special moment along your lifeâs journey when you thought âI wish for that to be my tomorrowâ? I have had that wish for as long as I can remember! Even was I was 7 I couldn´t understand why I hadn´t have my great breakthrough yet! You state on your myspace page âBut Iâm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love herâ. Have you held this boy in your eyes yet or are you still searching for a happier tomorrow? I am a boy, I wish to hold you within my eyes, could I be your happier tomorrow, or simply put, what do you search for in a new love? I borrowed that phrase from âNotting Hillâ. But sure, I´m always looking forward to the happier tomorrow, no matter how amazing my today is. I think I´m looking for someone who could really break my heart big time, but wont! To put it very simple⦠I listen to your music and I lose myself in the beauty that your voice and melody expels. When you listen back at your songs, how do you feel and are they as good as you hoped that they would be, regardless of how wonderful everyone else knows them to be? I know when I´m finished writing a song. They finish themselves somehow. But there is always something more, or less, you could have done with a recording. That´s why it´s important to record with people you trust. People you know will make the right decisions when your own mind goes blank. What is your all time personal favourite song of your own? And why? That changes all the time! I´m very happy with âThe Art Is Hardâ at the moment. I wrote that song about friends of mine who couldn´t get pregnant. So the song is written out of the little sperms perspective. 12 months after writing it, they got a beautiful baby. I take all credit in the world for it! What is your all time personal favourite song in the world? And why? That also changes all the time. But as I said before, I´m very nostalgic and I´ll have to take it all from day number one: Be my baby- The Ronettes Human Nature- Michael Jackson Purple Rain- Prince Let Down- Radiohead Tomorrow Never Knows- The Beatles Street Hassle- Lou Reed Cloudbusting- Kate Bush Heroes- David Bowie There are just too many good songs in this world! What was the worst gig you have ever played, and why was it so bad? I think I erase the really bad gigs from my mind. And it was a really long time ago now, that I didn´t like a gig, I don´t want to start searching in my mind to try and find something not worth thinking about⦠What was the most incredible gig you have ever played, and what made it so? I get really happy thinking about the a gig at Paradiso in Amsterdam this fall. But the most incredible gig of my life is yet to come! As the fourohfive is also a film and art review site, what genre of film do you enjoy to view and what is your favourite film, director or actor? My favourite films are Harold & Maude, StarWars 3-6 (the old ones!), The Neverending Story and Edward Scissorhands. I really like David Lynch, Wes Anderson, Sofia Coppola, Tim Burton, Michel Gondry and Hayao Miyazaki. Are there any particular artists, from painters to photographers, that you hold a keen interest in? I love Swedish painters Karin Mamma Andersson, Fanny Boström and Elsa Beskow. And when I was in New York last year i got to see Ron Muecks sculptures, and that totally blew me away! Are there times when you feel like leaving the world and running into the forests where you would proceed to build a tree house throughout the canopy and sit around a fire with friends in tow playing music until the morning comes again? If yes, then me too, we should make it happen. Thoughts? I´m planning on making that happen very soon actually. Feel free to join me, if you´re willing to cope with the cold Swedish winters. Make sure to bring your ice skates and skis. Where will you be spending this Christmas and what have you asked Santa to place in your stocking? With my mom and dad in their house by the sea. It´s my favourite place in the world. I hope Santa will bring me loads of fake-fur and a bottle of his best northpole-wine! I also wish for snow and brilliant 2009! Many of us are privy to random events in our lives, what is the most random thing that has happened to you? The funnier and more embarrassing the better :) I feel so boring but nothing comes into my mind at the moment⦠I´ll get back to you⦠Do you plan to tour in England any time soon or play any festivals this coming summer? Nothing´s planned for England yet, but I really hope I´ll get there some day soon⦠Not only do I want to do gigs, I want to see all the lovely friends I have there! If so, would a face-to-face interview be a possibility? The Internet seems to make life less of a personal affair, and therefore taking out rapport, witty banter and comedic interludes from the conversation. Do you agree with this statement? Reply with the least amount of feeling as possible⦠Yes, I agree! Face-to-face when I get there then! If you could be any place on this planet, doing anything you wish to do, what would be happening at this very moment? I´d be in Trinidad and Tobago, having action-swims in the sea with all my lovely friends. And after that we´ll be dancing under a fullmoon til the next day when it´s time for more swimming! And we would all have magical powers⦠In a time of global recession, conflict and destruction (just to bring the mood down a little), do you think that the âpeople of the worldâsâ love will overcome the power struggle our governments have bestowed upon us, bringing us into a more libertarian, free and peaceful world? I think we MUST believe in that! And fight for it! I will spurn from asking any more cliché questions and ask if there was one thought that you could leave to linger upon the periphery of our minds, what might that one thought be? Go Get It! Thank you so very kindly Miss Kinert for answering my questions, it has been a great pleasure that you would do so. We at the fourohfive hope to see you in the UK very soon and we wish you oceans of sparkled luck for your future ventures in all forms, and vistas of crayon coloured happiness tied with rainbows to your heart⦠Oh my! Thank you⦠Peace and love to you Ninaâ¦
