Satoru Shibata surprised us all with a new Nintendo Direct Mini that showcased two awesome announcements; Earthbound is available on the Wii U Virtual Console and the Nintendo 3DS' Street Pass is going to be updated with a Nintendo Zone StreetPass Relay system.

The relay system will be available in a future 3DS system update and will convert your system into a relay of sorts with StreetPass data. This way when you walk past the thousands of Nintendo StreetPass Zones around the world, you will automatically share data with players who walked past that zone previously, without the need to walk past them physically in a near vicinity.

This new update is particularly useful for games such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf that relies heavily on players sharing their content between each other. However many other Nintendo titles that have been released throughout last year and this year can utilise StreetPass data as well.
