German composer and producer Nils Frahm has teamed up with childhood friends Frederic Gmeiner and Sebastian Singwald to form nonkeen, who'll be releasing their debut album The Gamble on 5th February next year via R&S Records.

Back in 1989, Singwald travelled from East to West Germany as part of a school exchange with the DDR Youth Athletics team, to the same school in suburban Hamburg that Gmeiner and Frahm attended. The three became good friends, however Singwald had to return home across the Berlin Wall; they managed to record some music remotely after this, but it was after the Wall came down that they began to play and record music together. Years after, The Gamble began to flourish organically, made from a eight years' worth of tape recordings and experimentations that the band played with in Singwald's basement.
