Omar Souleyman is dedicating his third album - which is out on June 2 on Mad Decent - to his hometown of Syria, which is under immense heartache. On it, he's looking to embrace the traditional dabke and Egyptian baladi folk styles that he's known for, but the project is also slated to be a departure from previous work on a musical and lyrical level as he leans more towards techno elements this time around. Expect music soundtracking lyrics and poetry co-written by long-time collaborator Shawah Al Ahmad.

He himself has called To Syria, With Love "a personal ode to his native country” which highlights his relationship "to the land and people but not without heartache in view of the nation’s current state."
