Very little makes a website such as ours as proud as we are as much as receiving compliments about our writing or photography (which is what it's all about really). So when I was chatting to Adam from 7bitarcade and he was telling me about his plans to go to Iceland Airwaves next year and see how many european festivals he can hit up because he read our very own Tim Boddy's travels over the summer it made us well up inside. It's an honour to have him writing for us, and you can read his articles on the fantastic festival below.

We've hardly missed a step this week in more local gigs, missing only a few days in a chain from the 30th October. In chronological order: Rosie Lord gave Peace a chance; Dan Offen and Dan Smyth Confess how fun Twin Shadow is; Jack Foster entered Tiryagyoni in order to run around london reviewing Crushed Beaks, Torches then Crushed Beaks again in three different venues; Dan Offen offended a DJ named Phil at DOOM while Stephen Bevan photographed DOOM himself singing from his third eye; James Canham got homesick looking at a scarf at Dingus Khan; Dan Offen thought Chromatics were off the scales; Tim Boddy caught Paul Smith of Maximo Park doing his usual Homepride mascot impersonation; Tom Jowett and Tom Griffiths caught the bollocky huge Bon Iver being dicking gigantic; James Brown saw the other half of Deerhunter, Lotus Plaza, play with His Clancyness and Fear Of Men; Tim Feguson snapped Pepe Deluxe's first attack on the UK and Vale Berdini shot Spinal Tap, sorry, Motörhead and Anthrax.

Iceland Airwaves

Article by Tim Boddy; Photos by Nick Miners

"With every musical festival experience it's never fully about the music - it's a chance to envelope yourself into a specific culture for a few days of your life, and to peel then remove yourself from the day-to-day humdrum which many of us inhabit. Even as somewhere as seemingly unexotic as, say, Reading or V Festival, the overall experience outside of the act of listening to music still permeates strongly (negatively or positively, you can well argue amongst yourselves)."

Peace

The Lexington 30/10/12

Article by Rosie Lord

"It's a good sign when a band sells out a venue so quickly that they have to add a matinee show to accommodate demand."

Twin Shadow

Electric Brixton, London 01/11/12

Article by Dan Offen; Photos by Dan Smyth

"I hoped that this 'power-pop' aesthetic would be enough to turn the group into an enthralling live act."

Crushed Beaks, Torches, Crushed Beaks

Various, London 02/11/12

Article by Jack Foster

"I didn't really have a clue what was going on for the most of it, merely that I knew I liked both the bands I was going to see, wanted to know how it would go at a gig and that I was in good company."

Dingus Khan

Sticky Mike's Frog Bar, Brighton 04/11/12

Article by James Canham

"Their live show is incendiary, anarchic and graceful in equal measures, and, need I say it, is unmissable."

Animal Collective

Roundhouse, London 05/11/12

Article by Dan Offen; Photos by Richard Gray

"I was tentatively excited, Animal Collective have an inconsistent live reputation and my last experience with them had been a boring, self-indulgent performance that I had little interest in seeing again."

Bon Iver

Wembley Arena, London 08/11/12

Article by Tom Jowett; Photos by Tom Griffiths

"Bon Iver have managed to become an act who can sell out 12,000 seat stadiums without becoming gimmicky or giving way to painful pomposity. In fact, frontman Justin Vernon still looks exactly like the kind of bloke who wanders into the forest, voluntarily isolates himself in a wood cabin for weeks and introspectively dwells on the loss of a loved one..."

Lotus Plaza, His Clancyness, Fear Of Men

Electrowerkz, London 10/11/12

Article by James Brown

"It seems perfectly natural to be wary of side projects- in an age where every bass player and his mother seems to have undertaken a solo career there is certainly a fair share of underwhelming moonlighters about- only serving to remind us that most bands really are a sum of their parts."
