Parquet Courts recently announced their new studio album Wide Awake! with the brilliant 'Almost Had To Start A Fight/In And Out Of Patience', and they haven't kept us waiting long for the next breadcrumb in the trail that leads to the album's release on May 18th. Today sees the revelation of the album's title track, 'Wide Awake', along with a video by Brother Willis.

The clip finds the quartet donning all-purple suits and taking to the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Unpredictably it's a fitting setting for the punks, as 'Wide Awake' rattles along on tropical beats and party-starting whistles. The bass and vocals match this up-tempo styling, making good on the title 'Wide Awake' with an absolutely irresistible rhythm that gets your hips moving effortlessly. The boys are also fully in the Mardi Gras spirit in the video, dancing around carelessly, joining the festivities and just accentuating how 'Wide Awake' is a hell of a good time through and through.

Director Brother Willis says of the experience: "I was very intrigued by the band’s idea to spend a few days filming all around New Orleans during Mardi Gras... Probably should’ve thought twice about it, but we all came out the other side changed people and with a video (or more?) in our collective pocket."

Intriguingly, the video ends with 'To be continued', which suggests another song and video not far away. What we do know for certain is that Parquet Courts' Wide Awake! will be coming out through Rough Trade on May 18th and can be pre-ordered here.
